Configuring an Interval at Which Hello Packets are Sent

Configuring an Interval at Which Hello Packets are Sent

Context

Hello packets are sent periodically to the neighbor switch to establish and maintain a neighbor relationship and to elect a designated router (DR) and a backup DR (BDR). RFC 2328 requires that the Hello timer values of neighbors be consistent. The value of the Hello timer is inversely proportional to the route convergence speed and network load.

Perform the following operations on the switch that runs OSPFv3.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The interface view is displayed.

  3. Run ospfv3 timer hello interval [ conservative ] [ instance instance-id ]

The interval at which Hello packets are sent is set on the interface.
