Configuring a Stub Router

Configuring a Stub Router

Context

Configuring a switch to function as a stub router ensures an uninterrupted route on the switch during upgrades and other maintenance operations. This is because the route cost is set to the maximum value 65535 and therefore the route is no longer preferentially selected.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run ospf [ process-id ]

The OSPF process view is displayed.

  3. Run stub-router [ on-startup [ interval ] ]

The switch is configured as a stub router.

No device functions as a stub router by default.

If a switch is configured as a stub router, it functions as a stub router for 500s by default.

    NOTE:

A stub router configured using this command bears no similarity to a switch in a stub area.
