Combined Authentication

Combined Authentication

In a network environment with diversified clients, different clients can be assigned different access authentication modes. Some clients, such as printers, only support MAC address authentication. Some hosts support 802.1X authentication because they have 802.1X client software installed. Some user hosts require Portal authentication using web browsers. If the preceding authentication modes are all used on a single network, they must all be configured on user access interfaces so users are able to use the correct authentication mode to connect to the network.

The combined authentication solution meets the preceding requirements. The Portal authentication, MAC address authentication and 802.1X authentication are enabled on a device, so clients can be authenticated in any one of the three authentication modes.
