Application Scenarios

CloudBackup can not only be used for data backup and restoration, it can also be used together with OceanStor BCManager eReplication and the Cloud Backup and Recovery (CBR) service of HUAWEI CLOUD to implement disaster recovery.

Data Backup and Restoration

As shown in Figure 1-4, each controller of the OceanStor Dorado V3 storage system must have an IP link to back up or restore data. If multiple controller enclosures are deployed, configure an IP link for each controller in each controller enclosure.

Working with OceanStor BCManager eReplication and HUAWEI CLOUD CBR for Disaster Recovery

OceanStor BCManager eReplication is Huawei's disaster recovery management software suite deployed on application servers. It leverages its application-aware capabilities and value-added features provided by underlying storage systems to implement mission-critical data protection and disaster recovery for application systems.

HUAWEI CLOUD CBR is a service that provides data protection for cloud servers and cloud disks.

Figure 1-5 shows how CloudBackup works with OceanStor BCManager eReplication and HUAWEI CLOUD CBR to implement disaster recovery.

  • OceanStor BCManager eReplication invokes CloudBackup on the storage system to implement consistent application backup.
  • With OceanStor BCManager eReplication and HUAWEI CLOUD CBR, the backup copies uploaded from on-premises storage systems can be used for data recovery on the cloud.
  • Hosts recovered on the cloud can be used for disaster recovery, service migration, development, and testing.

In this scenario:

  • In the backup process, do not delete, reactivate, roll back, expand, or write the snapshot.
  • In the recovery process, do not delete, reactivate, roll back, expand, or write the snapshot corresponding to the backup image in use.
  • Only V300R002C10 and later versions support data recovery by services on the cloud using the backup images. In addition, the following requirements must be met:
    • The backup storage must be the buckets of the hybrid cloud backup vault of HUAWEI CLOUD CBR.
    • BCManager eReplication must be used with CloudBackup.
