Modifying the Properties of a Backup Storage Pool

Modifying the Properties of a Backup Storage Pool

You can modify the basic and storage unit information of a backup storage pool.

Prerequisites

A backup storage pool has been created on the storage system.

Procedure

  1. Choose Data Protection > CloudBackup > Basic Settings > Backup Storage Pool.
  2. Select the desired backup storage pool and click Properties.

The Properties of Backup Storage Pool dialog box is displayed.

  3. Modify the basic and storage unit information listed in Table 3-3.

Table 3-3 Backup storage pool information

    Parameter

    Description

    Value

    Name

Name of the backup storage pool.

    [Value range]

    • The name must be unique.
    • The name contains 1 to 31 characters.
    • The name can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), periods (.), hyphens (-), plus signs (+), and at signs (@).

    [Example]

    BackupStoragePool001

    Description

Description of the backup storage pool.

    [Value range]

The description can be left blank or contain up to 255 characters.

    [Example]

    -

    Alarm Threshold (%)

Alarm threshold for the capacity of the backup storage pool. When the capacity usage of the backup storage pool exceeds this threshold, an alarm is generated, prompting you to expand the capacity or delete unneeded backup data to release storage space. If the alarm is not cleared, subsequent backup tasks may fail.

    [Value range]

    1 to 100

    [Example]

    80

    • If the backup storage type is S3, you can modify the following parameters listed in Table 3-4.
Table 3-4 S3 storage unit parameters

      Parameter

      Description

      Value

      Protocol

Network protocol between the CloudBackup system and S3 storage. This can be HTTP or HTTPS.

      NOTE:
      • HTTP has security risks. It is recommended that you use HTTPS for security purposes.
      • If the HTTPS protocol is used, you are advised to obtain a valid CA certificate from the S3 storage administrator and import it to the Dorado V3 storage system, so that CloudBackup can verify the S3 storage information. To import the CA certificate, choose Settings > Storage Settings > Value-added Service Settings > Credential Management on DeviceManager. Then select CloudBackup certificate in the Scenario column under Credential Management, and click Import and Activate.

      [Example]

      HTTPS

      AK

An ID that confirms the identity of a user accessing the S3 storage.

      [Value range]

The value contains 1 to 128 characters.

      [Example]

      user1

      SK

An authentication key for a user to access the S3 storage. An SK matches an AK.

      [Value range]

The value contains 1 to 255 characters.

      [Example]

      user@123

      Service Host

Service IP address or domain name of the S3 storage.

      [Value range]

      • The domain name contains 1 to 255 characters.
      • The domain name can contain only letters, digits, periods (.), and hyphens (-), and must not start or end with a hyphen.

      [Example]

      192.168.10.10

      Bucket Name

      Bucket on the S3 storage.

      NOTE:

A bucket can be used by only one storage unit.

      [Value range]

      • The bucket name contains 3 to 255 characters.
      • The name contains only letters, digits, underscores (_), hyphens (-), and periods (.).

      [Example]

      CloudBackup.123

      Proxy

Proxy for accessing the S3 storage.

      NOTE:
      • A proxy is required if the backup storage type is S3 and the enterprise's data center must use a proxy to access the external network.
      • After selecting a proxy, you can click Verify to check its availability.

      [Example]

      Repository001

      WAN Acceleration

Indicates whether to enable WAN acceleration.

      NOTE:
      • This function significantly improves the speed of data upload to the S3 object storage under poor network quality to accelerate the backup process.
      • After you enable or disable WAN Acceleration, the setting will take effect in about 10 minutes when there is no task running in the backup storage pool.
      • It is recommended that you use the same WAN Acceleration setting for all buckets on the same S3 object storage.

      [Example]

      Enable

      Offline Storage Unit

Indicates whether to use the offline storage unit.

      NOTE:

Enable this function if you use a Teleport device for the first full backup to the cloud.

For details on how to apply for the Teleport device and perform the first full backup in offline mode, see How Do I Apply for a Teleport Device and Perform the First Full Backup to the Cloud in Offline Mode?

      [Example]

      Enable

      Path

Path for accessing the offline storage unit. The path format is Teleport device's logical IP address or domain name:/share name.

      [Value range]

      • The share path contains 1 to 255 characters.
      • The share path can contain only letters, digits, and special characters (.#%-=@ {_} ~/:).
      • The share path cannot end with a slash (/).

      [Example]

      192.168.10.10:/teleportshare

    • If the Backup Storage Type is NFS (V3), modify the path of the storage unit. The path format is IP address (or domain name):/share path, among which IP address and domain name indicate the service IP address and domain name of the NFS share, respectively.
    NOTE:
    • The share path contains 1 to 255 characters.
    • The share path can contain only letters, digits, and special characters (.#%-=@ {_} ~/:).
    • The share path cannot end with a slash (/).

  4. Click OK.

The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation is successful.

    NOTE:
    • If you do not modify the properties of the backup storage pool, the Execution Result dialog box will not be displayed. The Properties of Backup Storage Pool dialog box is closed after you click OK.
    • If the Backup Storage Type is S3, a security alert dialog box is displayed when you change the Protocol to HTTP or modify the Service Host or Bucket Name. Confirm the information in the dialog box and select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation.
    • If the Backup Storage Type is NFS (V3), a security alert dialog box is displayed when you modify the path of the storage unit. Confirm the information in the dialog box and select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation.

  5. Click Close.
