This document is applicable to OceanStor Dorado3000 V3, Dorado5000 V3, Dorado6000 V3, and Dorado18000 V3. It describes the implementation principles and application scenarios of the CloudBackup feature, and explains how to configure and manage CloudBackup.

Preparing for the Configuration

Before the configuration, collect necessary information on the production and backup systems.

Prerequisites

  • You have collected the NFS share information on the backup storage device, when you back up data to the local data center.
    NOTE:

    For details on how to configure NFS share on the backup storage device, see its product documentation.

  • You have obtained the access key of the object storage and created a bucket for storing backup data, when you back up data to the cloud.

Preparations on the Production Storage

OceanStor Dorado V3 is the production storage system. To ensure reliability, each controller of OceanStor Dorado V3 must have an IP link to the backup storage for data backup or restoration.

Plan and collect the necessary information based on your network conditions.

Preparations on the Backup Storage

The backup storage is the NFS storage device in the local data center or the object storage on the cloud.

  • If you want to back up data to the NFS storage device in the local data center, obtain the share path of the NFS backup storage from the storage administrator.

  • If you back up data to the object storage on the cloud, collect the access key (AK), secret access key (SK), access domain name, and bucket name of the object storage.

    An AK matches only one user, but a user can have multiple AKs.

    NOTE:

    The following is an example of creating the AK and SK on Huawei Object Storage Service (OBS):

    1. Log in to the OBS website (https://www.huaweicloud.com/product/obs.html) and click Access Console.
    2. Click your user name in the upper right corner of the page and choose My Credential from the drop-down list.
    3. Click the Access Keys tab and then click Add Access Key. Enter the login password and verification code as prompted. Then the browser automatically generates a key file named credentials.csv.
    4. Download and open the credentials.csv file, which contains the User Name, Access Key Id, and Secret Access Key. Access Key Id is the AK and Secret Access Key is the SK.

    SK

    An authentication key for a user to access object storage.

    An SK matches an AK, forming a key pair for accessing object storage to ensure access security.

    Service host

    Service IP address or domain name of the object storage.

    NOTE:

    The following is an example of querying the domain name on Huawei OBS:

    1. Log in to the OBS website (https://www.huaweicloud.com/product/obs.html) and click Access Console.
    2. In the bucket list, click the bucket that has been created for CloudBackup. The Summary of the bucket is displayed.
    3. In the Basic Information area, record the value of Endpoint, which is the domain name of the bucket.

    Bucket name

    A bucket is a container used to store objects on the object storage.

    NOTE:

    The following is an example of querying the bucket name on Huawei OBS:

    1. Log in to the OBS website (https://www.huaweicloud.com/product/obs.html) and click Access Console.
    2. Query the bucket name in the bucket list.

    (Optional) Proxy

    Required if the enterprise's data center must use a proxy to access the external network.

    NOTE:

    Obtain the proxy information from the network administrator of the enterprise's data center.

    (Optional) Path of the offline storage unit

    Required if the Teleport device of Huawei DES is used for the first full backup to the cloud.

    The path format is Teleport device's logical IP address (or domain name):/share name.
