Creating a Repository

Creating a Repository

A repository is a part of space in a storage pool. It stores backup data and provides the data source for restoration. You must create a repository before backing up data.

Prerequisites

A backup storage pool has been created.

Context

  • Repositories are logically isolated.
  • The backup images generated for the protected objects (LUNs or LUN consistency groups) in a backup plan are stored in the same repository.

Procedure

  1. Choose Data Protection > CloudBackup > Basic Settings > Repository.
  2. Click Create.

The Create Repository dialog box is displayed.

  3. Set the repository parameters listed in Table 2-8.

    Table 2-8 Repository parameters

    Parameter

    Description

    Value

    Name

    Name of the repository.

    [Value range]

    • The name must be unique.
    • The name contains 1 to 31 characters.
    • The name can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), periods (.), hyphens (-), plus signs (+), and at signs (@).

    [Example]

    Repository001

    Description

    Description of the repository.

    [Value range]

The description can be left blank or contain up to 255 characters.

    [Example]

    -

    Backup Storage Pool

Backup storage pool to which the repository belongs.

    NOTE:

If no backup storage pool is available, click Create to create one.

    [Example]

    BackupStoragePool001

    Full Quota

Indicates whether to enable full quota. If full quota is enabled, the repository uses all the free capacity of the backup storage pool. If this is disabled, the repository capacity must be specified manually.

    [Example]

    Disable

    Capacity

    Capacity of the repository.

    NOTE:
    • This parameter is valid only when Full Quota is disabled.
    • The repository capacity cannot exceed the free capacity of the backup storage pool.

    [Example]

    50 GB

    Alarm Threshold (%)

Alarm threshold for the capacity of the repository. When the capacity usage of the repository exceeds this threshold, an alarm is generated, prompting you to expand the capacity or delete unneeded backup data to release storage space. If the alarm is not cleared, subsequent backup tasks may fail.

    [Value range]

    1 to 100

    [Example]

    80

  4. Click OK.

The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation is successful.

  5. Click Close.
