Planning

Before HyperVault configuration, networks must be planned for efficient service configuration and management. This section describes the networks and components you must plan before HyperVault configuration.

Network Planning

Network planning helps you centrally manage the source and backup storage systems, schedule backup tasks, and globally control the backup system. The components that are required in the production center and backup center include application servers, Fibre Channel switches, storage systems, and Ethernet switches. Figure 2-1 shows the HyperVault network topology.

Required Components

For OceanStor storage systems, HyperVault tasks can be configured locally as well as across storage systems. Therefore, the components required for configuring HyperVault tasks vary with the scenario. Table 2-1 shows the required components for HyperVault tasks configured locally.

Ethernet switch

Connects the source storage system with the target storage system.
