Configuring an Alarm Threshold

Configuring an Alarm Threshold

This operation enables you to configure alarm thresholds for performance indicators of a registered storage device.

Context

If the performance indicator is above (or below) the alarm threshold, an alarm is generated and displayed in the alarm list of the alarm management page, and ask you to handle the device fault. If the performance indicator is below (or above) the alarm clearing threshold, the alarm is cleared automatically and removed from the current alarm list of the alarm management page to the historical alarm list.

Procedure

  1. Go to the dialog box for configuring thresholds.
    1. In the main menu area, click System.
    2. In the left navigation tree, choose System Configuration > Registration and Configuration.
    3. From the list of registered devices in the function pane, select a device for which you want to configure thresholds.
    4. Click Threshold.

The Threshold dialog box is displayed.

  2. Configure thresholds for the selected objects.
    1. In the drop down list of Type, select an object.
    2. Set the thresholds for indicators. Table 3-5 describes threshold parameters.

      Table 3-5  Threshold parameter

      Parameter

      Description

      Value

      Indicator Name

An indicator name of an object.

      -

      Object Type

      Type of an object.

      -

      Threshold Type

Threshold type of an object indicator. If the indicator value is above or below the alarm threshold, the SystemReporter system generates an alarm. Possible values are Greater-than and Smaller-than.

      [Example]

      Smaller-than

      Alarm Threshold

Threshold value of an object indicator. When the alarm threshold is reached, the SystemReporter system generates an alarm.

      [Example]

      99991

      Clearing Threshold

When the clearing threshold is reached, the generated alarm is cleared and added to the list of historical alarms.

      [Example]

      99992

      Triggering Condition

Number of times that the threshold has been exceeded. When the times are reached, the SystemReporter system generates an alarm.

      [Example]

      1

      Severity

Severity of a threshold alarm. Possible values are Critical, Major, Warning, and Info.

      [Example]

      Warning

      Threshold Switch

Switch for controlling whether a threshold is enabled.

      [Example]

      ON

      NOTE:
      • If you want to configure a threshold for an object (for example, linux--129---89: A0-1 whose object type is network port), click Exception Threshold. In the dialog box that is displayed, add the object and configure a threshold for it.
      • Click Restore Defaults to restore threshold parameters to the system default value.

    3. Click OK.

The Success dialog box is displayed.

    4. Click OK.

      You have finished configuring thresholds.
