Viewing and Exporting Alarms

By viewing current alarms and historical alarms generated by the storage system, you can acknowledge, cancel the acknowledgement of, clear, and export these alarms based on the actual situation. In addition, you can analyze performance problems in the storage systems.

Prerequisites

  • You have registered a device.
  • When alarms are not dumped, you can view alarms. When alarms have been dumped to alarm logs, you need to choose System > Alarm Dump > Dump History to view alarms.

Context

The procedures to view current alarms and historical alarms are similar. The following takes current alarms as an example to describe how to view alarms.

Procedure

  1. In the main menu area, click Alarms.
  2. In the left navigation tree, choose Alarm Management > Current Alarms.

    The page of current alarms is displayed.

  3. View current alarms. Table 4-22 describes parameters of a current alarm.

    • If you use Advanced Search to search for an alarm, enter only the device name in Source.

    • When you search for an alarm, enter "device03" in Source.

    Location

    Location of the current alarm.

    Time when the current alarm occurred for the first time.

    NOTE:
    • In Historical Alarms, the parameter Cleared At exists.
    • Click an alarm name to view its details. You can also create, modify or delete maintenance experience for the alarm.

  4. Export an alarm.
    1. From the alarm list in the right function pane, select one alarm or multiple alarms.
    2. Click Export.

      The selected alarms are exported. In the time status area, you can view the exported file.

Follow-up Procedure

You can acknowledge, cancel the acknowledgement of, clear, and export alarms. Table 4-23 describes details about these operations.

You can acknowledge your desired current alarms.

NOTE:
This operation is not enabled in Historical Alarms.
  1. From the alarm list in the right function pane, select an alarm that has not been acknowledged.
  2. Click Acknowledge.

    The Warning dialog box is displayed.

  3. Click OK.

    The Success dialog box is displayed.

  4. Click OK.

    The status of the alarm becomes Acknowledged.

Canceling the acknowledgement of a current alarm

You can cancel the acknowledgments of your desired current alarms.

NOTE:
This operation is not enabled in Historical Alarms.
  1. From the alarm list in the function pane, select an acknowledged alarm.
  2. Click Unacknowledge.

    The Warning dialog box is displayed.

  3. Click OK.

    The Success dialog box is displayed.

  4. Click OK.

    The status of the alarm becomes Unacknowledged.

Clearing a current alarm

You can delete the acknowledged current alarms.

NOTE:
This operation is not enabled in Historical Alarms.

Select an acknowledged current alarm, click Clear.

Frequency for refreshing an alarm

Current alarms show existing problems on a storage system. You can set the frequency for refreshing alarms to view current alarms in real time.

Possible values are Refresh every 15 seconds, Refresh every 30 seconds, Refresh every 60 seconds, and Stop refreshing. If you select Stop refreshing, the alarms on the interface will not be updated.

NOTE:
This operation is not enabled in Historical Alarms.

Select a current alarm, and select proper refreshing frequency.

Exporting all current alarms

You can export all current alarms in an .xls file.

Click Export All.

All current alarms are exported. In the time status area, you can view the exported file.
