Configuring a Security Policy

This section describes how to configure a security policy for SystemReporter to enhance its security and reliability.

Procedure

  1. Go to the dialog box for configuring a security policy.
    1. On the menu bar, choose System.
    2. In the navigation tree, choose System Administrators > Security Policies.
    3. In the function pane, click Modify.

      Open the Modify Security Policy dialog box.

  2. Configure information about the security policy.
    1. Modify the security policy. Table 5-17describes the parameters.

      Parameter

      Description

      Minimum length

      Minimum length of the administrator password. A complex password is recommended.

      Complexity

      Complexity of the administrator password. A complex password is recommended.

      Set a validity period for the password

      Specifies setting of the password's validity period.

      If you need to enable the setting, select the Set a validity period for the password check box.

      Validity period(days)

      Validity period of the administrator password. When this period is reached, the system asks you to change the password in time.

      This parameter is available only when Set a validity period for the password is enabled.

      NOTE:

      The value is an integer ranging from 60 to 999.

      Min. Password Lifespan(minutes)

      If an online administrator does not perform operations within a specified timeout interval, the administrator will be forcibly logged out. The system automatically returns to the login page.
      NOTE:

      The value must be an integer from 1 to 100.

      Incorrect password lock

      If the number of times of consecutively inputting incorrect passwords by the administrator exceeds Allowed attempts within 10 minutes, the administrator is locked.

      To enable this function, select Incorrect password lock. The function is enabled by default.

      Allowed attempts

      Times allowed for consecutively entering incorrect passwords. When the number of failed attempts reaches the specified value, SystemReporter automatically locks the administrator.

      NOTE:
      • The default administrator admin or another administrator with unlocking right can manually unlock the locked administrator. Alternatively, the locked administrator is automatically unlocked when the lock time is reached.
      • This parameter is available only when the Incorrect password lock is enabled. The value must be an integer from 1 to 9.

      lock(minutes)

      Lock (minutes)indicates the time of automatically locking an administrator. After the duration is reached, the administrator is automatically unlocked.
      • Lock (minutes) applies only to automatic locking. A manually locked administrator can only be manually unlocked.
      • This parameter is available only when the Incorrect password lock is enabled.
      NOTE:

      The Lock (minutes) value is an integer ranging from 3 to 2000.

      Timeout(minutes)

      Once a new password is set, the password cannot be changed within the minimum retention period.

      NOTE:

      The Timeout(minutes) value is an integer ranging from 1 to 9999.

      The Number of historical passwords reserved

      After the number of saved historical passwords is set, the new password cannot be the same as the saved historical passwords.

      NOTE:

      The The Number of historical passwords reserved value is an integer ranging from 0 to 30.

    2. Click OK.

      The Success dialog box is displayed, indicating that you have successfully configured the security policy.
