Installation on Windows

This section describes how to install SystemReporter on Windows.


  • You have obtained the SystemReporter installation package, and the SystemReporter version matches the storage device version.
  • To ensure successful software installation, install software in Windows using the administrator account.
  • You have prepared the installation directory, user name, and other data information. For details about data preparation, see Data Preparations.
  • You have decompressed the installation package. The path for decompressing the installation package of the Windows operating system can contain a maximum of 256 characters. You are advised to decompress the installation package to the root directory


  1. Optional: (If OceanStor BCManager eReplication and SystemReporter are deployed on one server, perform this operation. Otherwise, skip this operation.) Create an administrator.
    1. Install OceanStor BCManager eReplication as administrator. For details about how to install it, see the user guide.
    2. In the cmd command window, run the net user username password /add to create a user.
    3. Run the net localgroup administrators username /add to added the created user to the administrators group.
    4. Open the Run dialog box, enter regedit, and click OK. In Registry Editor that is displayed, change the value of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\EnableLUA to 0.
    5. Restart Windows to validate the configuration.
  2. If SystemReporter is independently deployed on one server, perform the following operation as administrator. If a non-administrator user is used for installation, modify the registry configuration by referring to How Can I Solve the Problem if the Installation Fails Using a Non-administrator User in Windows?. If SystemReporter and eReplication are deployed on one server, perform the following operation as the administrator created at 1.b.
    1. In the decompressed directory, double-click install.vbe.

      The SystemReporter Software Installation Wizard is displayed.

    2. On the Read Copyright page, select I have read the copyright statement and agree to the terms. and click Next.

      The Check Environment page is displayed.

    3. Set HTTPS port and click Next.

      The Install DataBase page is displayed.


      You can click Recheck to check whether the set port is available. If the port is occupied, stop services that are using the port or set another port.

    4. Set database parameters, as shown in Figure 2-2.

      You are advised not to install database on the system disk.

    5. Click Next.

      The Set Parameters page is displayed.

    6. Select an installation directory and a system communication IP address for SystemReporter, as shown in Figure 2-3.

      You are advised not to install SystemReporter on the system disk.

    7. Click Next.

      The Review Information page is displayed.

    8. Confirm information you have entered and click Next.

      The Installing SystemReporter Software dialog box is displayed.

  3. Optional: After the installation is complete, select Start up the SystemReporter software immediately in the Info dialog box, and Click OK.


    SystemReporter services must be enabled before you use SystemReporter. If you want to enable SystemReporter services, see Starting SystemReporter Services for details.

  4. Optional: If antivirus software OfficeScan of Trend Micro is installed in the server environment, refer to section 3.8.7 Enabling the Exception List in the Security Configuration Guide of the corresponding version to add the SystemReporter installation directory and SystemReporter database installation directory to the exception list.
