Installing the GaussDB Database

Before upgrading the SystemReporter, install a GaussDB database first.If a qualified GaussDB database has been installed in the system, skip this operation. If an unqualified GaussDB database has been installed, uninstall it by following section 3.6 "Uninstall GaussDB" in OceanStor 9000 V100R001C30 SystemReporter User Guide.If the system does not have a GaussDB database inside, install one from the GaussDB installation package delivered with the SystemReporter installation package.


The SystemReporter installation file has been prepared.


For details about how to obtain the SystemReporter installation file, see section Obtaining Software Upgrade Package.


  1. Go to the directory for decompressing the SystemReporter installation package\Runtime\bin.


    The Disk D is decompressed as an example. The decompression path of the GaussDB cannot contain spaces. Otherwise, the database will fail to be installed.

  2. Double-click installgauss.bat.
  3. In the dialog box that is displayed, enter the Gauss port number, installation path, and database user name as prompted.

    • The database installation path and data storage path can only contain digits, uppercase and lowercase letters, and underscore (_) (the paths must be absolute paths). If you press Enter, the default paths are selected.
    • The password configured in the preceding figure must contain digits, uppercase and lowercase letters, and special characters.
    • The user created in the preceding figure is used to connect the SystemReporter to the GaussDB database.

To verify whether a GaussDB database is successfully installed, modify the password of the database or harden the database by referring to the following section.Otherwise, skip the following section.

Follow-up Procedure

  • Verify whether a database is successfully installed. On the command-line interface (CLI), run gsql -d postgres -Ureporterdba -p 2345 and enter the password for reporterdba. If the following information is displayed, the database is successfully installed..
    • When connecting to the database, enter the port number that has been used to create the GaussDB database.
    • To ensure security, log in to the database in interactive mode instead of entering the login password on the CLI.
  • After successfully logging in to the GaussDB database, run ALTER USER reporterdba IDENTIFIED BY new password replace old password. The new password and old password must be entered by the user. Then modify the password of the user created in Step3.
    • The default GaussDB user name is the same as the user name for logging in to the Windows server.
    • reporterdba represents the user created in Step3.
    • After modifying the password, close the window for password modification
