Replacing a Power Module

Replacing a Power Module

This section explains how to replace a power module for a P12.

Impact on the System

There is no impact on the system.

  • The replacement power module is ready.
  • The faulty power module has been located.
  • The power cable has been disconnected from the power module that you want to replace.

Before replacing a power module, disconnect it from the external power source. Otherwise, device damage or even personal injury may occur.
  • Remove and insert a power module with even force. Excessive force may damage the appearance or connectors of the power module.
  • The interval between removing and installing a power module must be shorter than 2 minutes.
  • When installing a power module, do not place fingers over the power module. Otherwise, your fingers may be hurt.

Tools and Materials

  • ESD gloves
  • ESD wrist strap
  • ESD bag
  • Labels

  1. Wear the ESD wrist strap and ESD gloves. For details, see Put on an ESD wrist strap in Replacing a Main Control Board Enclosure.

  6. Observe the power running/alarm indicator to determine whether the installation is successful.

    • If the power running/alarm indicator is steady green, the installation is successful.
    • If the power running/alarm indicator is steady red or off, the power module may be incorrectly installed. Reinstall it.
