Replacing a Rear Service Disk Midplane
This section describes how to replace the rear service disk midplane (referred to as the rear midplane) of the P36/C36.
Impact on the System
Precaution
- Only professional maintenance personnel are allowed to replace a midplane.
- The P36/C36 has two power supplies. Ensure that both supplies are disconnected.
- To prevent personal injury, arrange two persons to replace it.
Procedure
- Wear the ESD wrist strap or gloves. For details, see Wearing an ESD Wrist Strap in Replacing a Main Control Board Enclosure.
- Take out the disk enclosure.
- Remove the top cover of the chassis, and uninstall the
fan module in the chassis.
- Remove the top cover of the chassis. For details, see 6 in Replacing a Fan Module in the Chassis.
- As shown in step 1 in Figure 8-28, loosen the four screws on each side of the chassis.
- Uninstall the fan module in the chassis. For details, see 7 in Replacing a Fan Module in the Chassis.
- As shown in step 2 in Figure 8-28, loosen the three screws fastening the rear midplane.
- Remove the rear midplane.
- As shown in step 1 in Figure 8-29, pull up the iron frame vertically and remove it.
- As shown in step 2 in Figure 8-29, loosen the twelve screws fastening the rear midplane in a counterclockwise manner.
- Install the rear midplane.
- Take the spare rear midplane out of the ESD bag.
- As shown in step 1 in Figure 8-30, loosen the twelve screws fastening the rear midplane in a counterclockwise manner.
- As shown in step 2 in Figure 8-30, push the iron frame vertically down until the rear midplane is well fixed.
- Install the fan module and top cover of the chassis.
- As shown in step 1 in Figure 8-31, tighten the three screws fastening the rear midplane.
- Install the fan module into the chassis.
- As shown in step 2 in Figure 8-31, tighten the four screws on each side of the chassis.
- Install the top cover of the chassis. For details, see 13 in Replacing a Fan Module in the Chassis.
- Install the service disk enclosure.
- Install the main control board enclosure. For details, see 11 in Replacing a Fan Module in the Main Control Board Enclosure.
- Install the power supply. For details, see 4 in Replacing a Power Module.
- Install disks. For details, see 7 in Replacing a Service Disk Module.
- Install the P36/C36 into the cabinet. For details, see 15 in Replacing a Fan Module in the Main Control Board Enclosure.
- Connect the P36/C36 with the power supply and other devices. Ensure that the cables are connected properly, and then power on the device.
- Check whether the midplane has been replaced successfully.
- If the disk is powered on correctly and the disk indicator is steady on, the midplane has been replaced successfully.
- If the disk indicator is off, the midplane has failed to be replaced. Reinstall it or contact the technical support engineers of your vendor.
