Configuring the Auto-Negotiation Function

Configuring the Auto-Negotiation Function

The auto-negotiation function allows interfaces on both ends of a link to select the same operating parameters by exchanging capability information. The parameters include the duplex mode and rate. When the negotiation succeeds, the two interfaces use the same duplex mode and work at the same rate. In non-auto-negotiation mode, the operating parameters must be set manually.

  • By default, GE interfaces do not support flow control auto-negotiation. You can run the flow-control negotiation command to configure flow control auto-negotiation.
  • GE optical interfaces do not support auto-negotiation function after FE optical modules are installed on the interfaces.
  • The GE interfaces on the AR2201-48FE, AR2202-48FE, AR2204-51GE-P, AR2204-51GE-R, AR2204-27GE-P, AR2204-27GE, AR2204E, AR2204E-D and AR2204 do not support flow control.
