Configuring an Interface Description

Configuring an Interface Description

Context

To facilitate device management and maintenance, you can configure descriptions for interfaces. An interface description can contain the device where the interface is located, interface type, and remote device. For example: To-[DeviceB]Eth-2/0/0 indicates that an interface of this device is connected to Eth2/0/0 of device B.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The interface view is displayed.

  3. Run description description

The description is configured for the interface.

By default, the description of an interface is "HUAWEI, AR Series, interface-type interface-number Interface".

The interface description is displayed from the first non-space character.
