The router connects to an ISDN network through ISDN BRI interfaces

In Figure 13-1, RouterA and RouterB use ISDN BRI interfaces to connect to the NT1 devices, and the NT1 devices connect to the ISDN network.

NT1 implements physical layer functions, including subscriber line transmission, loop detection, and D channel preemption. For details, see ISDN Reference Model in Configuration Guide - WAN.
