Enabling MLD

Enabling MLD


IPv6 multicast routing is the prerequisite for configuring all IPv6 multicast functions. You must enable IPv6 multicast routing before configuring an IPv6 multicast protocol.

Before configuring Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) on a multicast router, enable MLD on an interface connected to receiver hosts.


  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run multicast ipv6 routing-enable

    IPv6 multicast routing is enabled.

  3. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The interface view is displayed.

  4. Run mld enable

    MLD is enabled on the interface.

    By default, MLD is disabled on an interface.


    If IPv6 PIM and MLD need to be enabled on the same interface, enable IPv6 PIM and MLD in sequence.
