Configuring the Upper and Lower Alarm Thresholds for Multicast Protocol Entries

Configuring the Upper and Lower Alarm Thresholds for Multicast Protocol Entries

Context

After the upper and lower alarm thresholds for multicast protocol entries are configured on a device, the device can generate alarms and clear alarms for multicast protocol entries based on the alarm thresholds. When the proportion of existing multicast protocol entries to the maximum number reaches the upper alarm threshold, the device generates an alarm. When the proportion falls below the lower alarm threshold, the device generates a clear alarm. Multicast protocol entry alarms and clear alarms facilitate network operation and maintenance.

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before configuring the upper and lower alarm thresholds for multicast protocol entries, complete the following tasks:

  • Configure basic Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) or Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) functions.
  • Configure basic Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) functions.
  • Enable the multicast management information base (MIB) trap function.
