VRRP Group Status Changes Frequently

VRRP Group Status Changes Frequently

Fault Description

The VRRP group status changes frequently.

Procedure

  1. Run the display vrrp virtual-router-id command in any view to check whether the VRRP group is associated with an interface, an NQA test instance, or a BFD session.

    • If the VRRP group is associated with the interface, an NQA test instance, or a BFD session, flapping of the interface, an NQA test instance, or a BFD session causes VRRP group status flapping. Rectify the fault on the associated module.

    • If association is not configured, go to step 2.

  2. Run the display vrrp virtual-router-id command in any view to check the preemption delay of the VRRP group.

    • If the preemption delay is 0, run the vrrp vrid virtual-router-id preempt-mode timer delay delay-value command in the view of the interface where the VRRP group is configured to set the non-0 preemption delay.

    • If the preemption is not 0, go to step 3.

  3. Run the vrrp vrid virtual-router-id timer advertise advertise-interval command in the view of the interface where the VRRP group is configured to set a larger interval at which VRRP Advertisement packets are sent, or run the vrrp vrid virtual-router-id preempt-mode timer delay delay-value command to set a larger preemption delay.
