Summary of Interface Backup Configuration Tasks

Summary of Interface Backup Configuration Tasks

The interface backup function allows a backup interface to transmit traffic when the primary interface is faulty or load balance traffic when bandwidth of the primary interface is insufficient.

Table 2-1 describes the Interface Backup configuration tasks.

Configuring Interface Backup in Active/Standby Mode

This section describes how to configure interface backup in active/standby mode. When the primary interface or its directly connected link is faulty, a backup interface with the highest priority is started to transmit services.

Configuring Association of Interface Backup in Active/Standby Mode

This section describes how to configure association of interface backup in active/standby mode. When the primary interface or its directly connected link is faulty, a backup interface with the highest priority is started to transmit services. This improves communication reliability.

Configuring Interface Backup in Load Balancing Mode

This section describes how to configure interface backup in load balancing mode. When the bandwidth on the primary interface is insufficient, the backup interface with the highest priority is selected to load balance services with the primary interface. This improves reliability of data transmission.
