DCC Design principles

DCC Design principles

A Data Connection Converter (DCC) is deployed between a DCU and a smart meter. A smart meter can connect to a DCU through a DCC or directly connect to a DCU. You need to select DCCs based on the onsite situation and customer requirements. Table 4-3 describes DCC design principles and selection factors.
Table 4-3  DCC selection

Power grid environment

There is a high density of smart meters, but smart meters are sparsely distributed.

Smart meters communicate with DCCs through RS485, and DCCs communicate with DCUs through PLC.

Multi-meter boxes are installed in a centralized manner.

DCCs can be used to implement communication between DCUs and smart meters.
