DCU Parameter Plan

DCU parameters include AMI service parameters of the DCU used as the data collector or IoT gateway, basic communication parameters, and profile parameters in the third-party application system and EEM. A DCU communicates with downstream terminals through HDLC-based DLMS, and communicates with the DCP through TCP/IP-based DLMS. Table 6-10 describes the parameters.

Basic DCU parameters

IP Address

A DCU's IP address is planned based on site survey data. If the DCU uses GPRS or 3G, the DCU's IP address is automatically allocated by a carrier.

Basic ID

A DLMS-enabled DCU's basic ID is the DCU's logical device name, which is planned based on site survey data.

Profile parameters

Device model

The value is composed of the communication protocol plus the device model. The value is DLMS-AR531GPe-U-H, DLMS-AR532GPe-U-H, or DLMS-AR532GR-U-H.


The ESN is the 20-digit code of a DCU. The value allows only letters and digits. The system generates a logical device name based on the ESN.

Asset name

Name of a DCU. The value is user-defined based on the actual name and cannot contain special characters.

Factory code

Vendor of a DCU. DCUs are Huawei products, so the value is Huawei.

Organization name

Name of an organization that a DCU belongs to. If the organization name is not specified during DCU profile creation, the DCU belongs to the organization default by default. After the profile is created, the organization can be changed.

Communications parameters

Logical Device Name

The value contains at most 16 characters that allow only letters and digits. It must be consistent with the basic ID configured for the DCU. During DCU archiving, the system adds HWT0 to the last 12 characters of the DCU's SN to generate a logical device name.


Low-level encryption key

The low-level and high-level authentication passwords used for communication between a DCU and the DCP contain 6 to 16 characters that allow only letters and digits. The passwords can be configured based on site survey data. If the passwords are not configured, the default password Admin@huawei is used.

High-level encryption key

Authentication level

Authentication level used for communication between a DCU and the DCP. There are three authentication modes: high-level authentication, low-level authentication, and non-authentication.
  • The AR531GPe-U-H allows the authentication level of DCU profiles and terminals to be modified.
  • The AR532 allows only the authentication level of DCU profiles to be modified.

Encryption algorithm

Encryption algorithm used for communication between a DCU and the DCP. The value can be aes-128, aes-256, or sha-256. The AR531GPe-U-H supports only aes-128 and sha-256. The encryption algorithm is specified based on the network situation.


The value is the IP address of the DCP to which the DCU belongs. When a DCP in the single-node system is used, the IP address is the DCP's IP address. If a DCP cluster is deployed, the value is the external IP address of the load balancer of the DCP cluster.

DCP Port

Port number used by the DCU to exchange with the DCP.
