Network Reliability Design

The AMI solution includes the data center network between application systems and components, carrier network between DCUs and the DCP and between GPRS meters and DCP, and network between DCUs and smart meters. Measures are taken on these networks to ensure communication link reliability:
  • Internet: Third-party application systems and EEM&DCP are deployed in the data center, use a wired network for communication, and provide dual-network redundancy to ensure stability of external network access. Network devices in the data center need to be configured with DoS attack defense.
  • Network between DCUs and the DCP: DCUs and the DCP can set up wired connections or GPRS/3G wireless connections. This network applies to various scenarios and ensures high reliability.
  • GPRS network: The GPRS network can cover a large area and provide long-distance high-speed wireless communication.
  • 3G uplink network: DCUs and GPRS meters can communicate with the DCP through a 3G network. The 3G network uses VPN dual-network redundancy to provide high data transmission reliability.
