Design Description

The routing design ensures communication between devices at the data perception layer and application so that services can be transmitted properly:
  • There are reachable routes between DCUs/GPRS meters and load balancers.
  • There are reachable routes between DCUs/GPRS meters and DCP servers.
  • There are reachable routes between DCUs/GPRS meters and the FTP server so that upgrade files can be downloaded and devices can be upgraded remotely.

DCU Routing Design

A DCU can exchange data with application systems through the GPRS/3G network and Ethernet. Regardless of the GPRS/3G network or Ethernet, the DCU must be configured with the DCP's IP address.
  • If the DCP in the single-node system is deployed, the DCP's IP address that is configured on the DCU is the IP address of the DCP server.
  • If the DCP cluster is deployed, the southbound load balancer connected to the DCP uses the single-node system. The DCP's IP address that is configured on the DCU is the IP address of the load balancer.
  • If the DCP cluster is deployed, the southbound load balancer connected to the DCP uses the active/standby mode. The DCP's IP address that is configured on the DCU is the virtual IP address of the load balancer.

GPRS Meter Routing Design

The IP address of a GPRS meter is automatically allocated by a carrier. The GRPS meter must be configured with the DCP's IP address so that it can connect to the DCP.
  • If the DCP in the single-node system is deployed, the DCP's IP address that is configured on the GPRS meter is the IP address of the DCP server.
  • If the DCP cluster is deployed, the southbound load balancer connected to the DCP uses the single-node system. The DCP's IP address that is configured on the GPRS meter is the IP address of the load balancer.
  • If the DCP cluster is deployed, the southbound load balancer connected to the DCP uses the active/standby mode. The DCP's IP address that is configured on the GPRS meter is the virtual IP address of the load balancer.
