Troubleshooting Video Stuttering

This section describes the symptoms and possible causes when the RTN510 encounters video stuttering. In addition, this section describes the required tools, precautions, and procedures for rectifying the failure.

Symptom

Video stuttering occurs when the RTN510 is used for backhaul transmission.

Possible Cause

  • Cause 1: The network cable is faulty, and the MAC_EXT_EXC or MAC_FCS_EXC alarm is generated.
  • Cause 2: The capacity is insufficient.
  • Cause 3: There are interference signals.

  • Web-based NMS

Procedure

  1. Cause 1: The network cable is faulty, and the MAC_EXT_EXC or MAC_FCS_EXC alarm is generated.
    1. Check whether the network cable quality is normal, for example, check whether the wire sequence is correct or whether the cable is in good contact.
    2. Check whether the video backhaul is normal. If no, go to 2.
  2. Cause 2: The capacity is insufficient.
    1. Check whether the live network is deployed according to the network plan (mainly check the RSL and MCS values).

      Yes

      Go to 2.b.

      No

      Re-configure the device according to the network plan. Then, check whether the video backhaul is normal. If no, go to 2.b.

    2. Check whether the camera parameters are set as required.

      If...

      Yes

      Go to 3.

      No

      Re-configure the camera parameters based on site requirements. Then, check whether the video backhaul is normal. If no, go to 3.

  3. Cause 3: There are interference signals.
    1. Observe the MCS value of the device to check whether there is a jitter.

      If...

      Then...

      1. Eliminate the interference. For details, see 2.
      2. If the failure persists, set the highest MCS value of the device to the minimum MCS value that causes a jitter, and ensure that the bandwidth requirements of service backhaul are met.
      3. Check whether the video backhaul is normal. If no, go to 4.

      No

      Go to 4.

  4. If the failure persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers.
