Enabling the vCenter SSH Service


Enable the vCenter SSH service.


  1. Log in to vCenter.
  2. In the navigation tree on the left, right-click VMware vCenter Server Appliance, and choose Open Console.

    The VMware vCenter Server Appliance console is displayed.

  3. Press F2.
  4. Enter the administrator password set during the installation.

    The System Customization page is displayed.

  5. choose Troubleshooting Mode Options.
  6. Press Enter.

    The Troubleshooting Mode Options page is displayed.

  7. Enable Bash Shell.

    "Disable BASH Shell" changes to "Enable BASH Shell".

  8. Enable the SSH service.

    "Disable SSH" changes to "Enable SSH".
