Storage Management

Snapshot Policy

Before the operation, ensure that the vCenter server account information has been set. For details, see Setting a Communication Account.

WebUI Description
Function

On the Snapshot Policy page, you can add, modify, and delete snapshot policies.

Storage snapshot policies are used to perform scheduled snapshot tasks on storage volumes. You can create a policy object and bind it to a storage volume to generate a snapshot task.

Adding a Snapshot Policy
NOTE:

One set of FusionCube supports a maximum of 20 snapshot policies.

Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.

    The connected FusionCube page is displayed.

  3. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

  4. Choose Storage Management > Snapshot Policy.

    The Snapshot Policy dialog box is displayed.

  5. Click Add Policy.

    The Create Policy dialog box is displayed.

  6. Set the parameters.
  7. Click Save.
Modifying a Snapshot Policy
Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.

    The connected FusionCube page is displayed.

  3. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

  4. Choose Storage Management > Snapshot Policy.

    The Snapshot Policy dialog box is displayed.

  5. Locate the volume for which the snapshot policy is to be modified, and click .

    The Modify Policy dialog box is displayed.

  6. Set the parameters.
  7. Click Save.
Deleting a Snapshot Policy
Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.

    The connected FusionCube page is displayed.

  3. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

  4. Choose Storage Management > Snapshot Policy.

    The Snapshot Policy dialog box is displayed.

  5. Locate the volume for which the snapshot policy is to be deleted, and click .

    The Delete Policy dialog box is displayed.

  6. Click OK.
Storage Volume

Before the operation, ensure that the vCenter server account information has been set. For details, see Setting a Communication Account.

Function

On the Storage Volume page, you can perform the following operations:

  • Create volumes
  • Mount and unmount volumes
  • Create snapshots
  • Bind a snapshot policy to a volume and unbind a snapshot policy from a volume
  • Query snapshot status
  • Delete volumes

Identifies a volume.

NOTE:

The volume names start with "fc2_".

Volume capacity.

Number of volumes.

Storage pool to which the volume belongs.

Creating a Volume
NOTE:

A maximum of 100 volumes can be created at a time.

Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.

    The connected FusionCube page is displayed.

  3. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

  4. Choose Storage Management > Storage Volume.

    The Storage Volume page is displayed.

  5. Click Create.

    The Create dialog box is displayed.

  6. Set the parameters.
  7. Click Create.

    A confirmation dialog box is displayed.

  8. Click OK.
Mounting a Volume
Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.

    The connected FusionCube page is displayed.

  3. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

  4. Choose Storage Management > Storage Volume.

    The Storage Volume page is displayed.

  5. Locate the row that contains the volume to be mounted, and click .

    The Mount Volume dialog box is displayed.

  6. Select the format.
    NOTE:
    • VMware vSphere 6.0 supports only the vmfs5 format.
    • VMware vSphere 6.5 and later support vmfs5 and vmfs6 formats.
  7. Select the host to which the volume is to be mounted.
  8. Click Mount.
  9. When the progress is 100%, click OK.
    NOTE:

    If the operation fails, click OK and try again.

Creating a Snapshot
Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.
  3. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

  4. Choose Storage Management > Storage Volume.

    The Storage Volume page is displayed.

  5. Locate the row that contains the volume for which a snapshot is to be created, and click .

    The Create Snapshot dialog box is displayed.

  6. Determine whether to create snapshots for VMs as required.
    • true: creates snapshots for VMs and then for volumes.
    • false: creates snapshots for volumes only.
  7. Click Submit.

    The Snapshot Create Status dialog box is displayed.

  8. After the snapshot is created, click Close.
Binding a Snapshot Policy
NOTE:

A volume can be bound with only one snapshot policy, while a snapshot policy can be bound to multiple volumes.

Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.

    The connected FusionCube page is displayed.

  3. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

  4. Choose Storage Management > Storage Volume.

    The Storage Volume page is displayed.

  5. Locate the row that contains the volume to which a snapshot policy is to be bound, and click .

    The Bind Policy dialog box is displayed.

  6. Select the policy to be bound.
  7. Click Save.

    A snapshot task is generated on the Snapshots Task page.

Unbinding a Snapshot Policy
Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.

    The connected FusionCube page is displayed.

  3. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

  4. Choose Storage Management > Storage Volume.

    The Storage Volume page is displayed.

  5. Locate the row that contains the volume from which a snapshot policy is to be unbound, and click .

    The Unbind Policy dialog box is displayed.

  6. Click OK.
Querying the Snapshot Status
Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.

    The connected FusionCube page is displayed.

  3. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

  4. Choose Storage Management > Storage Volume.

    The Storage Volume page is displayed.

  5. Locate the row that contains the volume of which the snapshot status is to be queried, and click .

    The Snapshot Create Status dialog box is displayed.

  6. Check the snapshot status.
  7. Click Close.
Unmounting a Volume

Before unmounting a volume from all hosts, unbind the snapshot policy from the volume. For details, see Unbinding a Snapshot Policy

Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > Hosts and Clusters.

    The Hosts and Clusters page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, click the target host.
  3. Click Datastores.

    The Datastores page is displayed.

  4. Right-click the row that contains the volume to be unmounted, and choose Unmount Datastore.

    The Unmount Datastore dialog box is displayed.

  5. Select the host.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  8. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.

    The connected FusionCube page is displayed.

  9. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

  10. Choose Storage Management > Storage Volume.

    The Storage Volume page is displayed.

  11. Locate the row that contains the volume to be unmounted, and click .

    The Mount Volume dialog box is displayed.

  12. Select the target host.
  13. Click Mount.
  14. Click OK.
Delecting a Volume
Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.

    The connected FusionCube page is displayed.

  3. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

  4. Choose Storage Management > Storage Volume.

    The Storage Volume page is displayed.

  5. Locate the row that contains the volume to be deleted, and click .

    The Delete volume dialog box is displayed.

  6. Click OK.
Snapshot Task

Before the operation, ensure that the vCenter server account information has been set. For details, see Setting a Communication Account.

On the Snapshot Task page, you can view snapshot task information and delete snapshot tasks.

Delecting a Snapshot Task
Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.

    The connected FusionCube page is displayed.

  3. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

  4. choose Storage Management > Snapshot Task.

    The Snapshot Task page is displayed.

  5. Locate the row that contains the snapshot task to be deleted, and click .

    The Unbind Policy dialog box is displayed.

  6. Click OK.

Account Management

WebUI Description
Function

On the Account Management page, you can set the accounts for communicating with the vCenter server and the certificate library password.

IP address of the vCenter server.

UserName

User name for accessing the vCenter server. The default user name is administrator@vsphere.local.

Password

Password for accessing the vCenter server. The default password is Huawei@123.

Setting a Communication Account
Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.

    The connected FusionCube page is displayed.

  3. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

    NOTE:

    During your first login to FusionCube, the Set Account dialog box will be displayed, asking you to set an account for communicating with the vCenter server. Click Confirmed to close the dialog box.

  4. Click Account Management.

    The Account Management page is displayed.

  5. In the You can set information about an account used for communicating with vCenter Server area, click Edit.
  6. Enter the user name and password for logging in to vCenter.
    NOTE:

    The role of the user who logs in to vCenter must be Administrator or Virtual machine power user. Otherwise, AIS snapshot operations cannot be performed

  7. Click Save.
Setting the Certificate Library Password

Before the operation, ensure that the vCenter server account information has been set. For details, see Setting a Communication Account.

NOTE:

Perform this operation only when you need to change the certificate library password.

Procedure
  1. Choose Home > Inventories > FusionCube.

    The FusionCube page is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, select the connected FusionCube.

    The connected FusionCube page is displayed.

  3. Click Manage.

    The Manage page is displayed.

  4. Click Account Management.

    The Account Management page is displayed.

  5. In the Set the certificate store password information area, click Edit.
  6. Set the parameters.
  7. Click Save.
