Modifying the hosts Files

Edit the hosts file on the three HANA server nodes (primary/secondary/DR) to implement host name resolution.

  1. Log in to server node 1 and run the vi /etc/hosts command to open the hosts file.
  2. Enter "i" to enter the editing mode, add the resolution statements of the three HANA hosts to the end of the file.

    The actual statements vary according to the host names and IP addresses (service IP addresses) in the customer environment.

    10.5.2.10 hw00001SR  hw00001SR

  3. Press Esc and enter "wq!" to save the file and exit.
  4. Log in to server node 2, run the vi /etc/hosts command to open the hosts file, and add the following host name resolution statements to the end of the file:

    10.5.1.11  hw00002  hw00002
    10.5.1.12  hw00003  hw00003
    10.5.2.10 hw00001SR  hw00001SR
    10.5.2.11 hw00002SR  hw00002SR

  5. Press Esc and enter "wq!" to save the file and exit.
  6. Log in to server node 3, run the vi /etc/hosts command to open the hosts file, and add the following host name resolution statements to the end of the file:

    The host names of the primary, secondary, and DR nodes in this document are hw00001, hw00002, and hw00003 respectively.
