Changing the IP Address of the Management Interface on a Disk Array

Changing the IP Address of the Management Interface on a Disk Array

After changing the IP address of the management interface on a disk array, you can connect the disk array to a LAN and remotely access and configure the disk array through the DeviceManager. In this case, you do not need to directly connect your PC to the disk array using network cables in the equipment room.

Prerequisites

A network cable and a portable computer or PC with the Windows operating system are available.

An IP address has been planned for the management interface on the disk array.

Context

The default IP address is 192.168.128.101 for the management interface on controller A. The default IP address is 192.168.128.102 for the management interface on controller B. The default subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.

Ensure that the IP addresses of the management interfaces on two controllers are in the same network segment.

Procedure

  1. Change the IP address of the portable computer or PC to an IP address in the same network segment as the default IP addresses of the management interfaces.
  2. Use the network cable to connect the portable computer or PC to the disk array controller (controller A is used as an example). That is, the network cable interconnects the network port on the portable computer or PC and the management interface on controller A.
  3. Access https://192.168.128.102:8088 on a browser and enter the user name and password. The default user name is admin, and the default password is Admin@storage.
  4. Click on the right and choose Controller Enclosure CTE0 > Controller B > Management Port from the left navigation tree. The management interface will be marked with a blue box in the schematic diagram.

  5. Click the management interface. A floating page is displayed. Click Modify.

  6. Change the IPv4 address to the planned one and configure the subnet mask and gateway. Then, click Apply to make the change take effect.

If the planned IP address and the default IP address of the management interface are in different subnets, the DeviceManager cannot access the disk array after this step is performed.

  7. Connect the network cable of the management interface on the disk array to the service network. Several minutes later, use another PC on the network to access the DeviceManager of the disk array.

That is, access https://disk-array-management-interface-ip-address:8088 on a browser.

If the access succeeds, the change has taken effect.

  8. Repeat the preceding operation to change the IP address of the management interface on the other controller.
