Check Before Installation

Check Before Installation

This section describes how to perform the check before you install a log collector.

Procedure

  1. Ensure that the operating system and its patch of the log collector are correctly installed. For details, see section 5.2 "Installing the SUSE Linux Operating System."
  2. Check whether the port required for installing the log collector is occupied by other programs. For details, see Communication Matrix.

If other programs occupy the port, stop the programs to release the port. For details, see Checking Whether a Port Is Occupied in the Windows Operating System and Releasing the Occupied Port.

  3. Ensure that at least one network adapter is started and connected with the network cable. During the installation process, the installation program needs to invoke the service of the network adapter.
  4. In the distributed deployment of the eLog system, ensure that the eLog analyzer can communicate with the physical server on which the log collector resides.
  5. Ensure that the time of the log collector is the same as the physical server on which the eLog analyzer resides. For details, see section 5.5 "Configuring the NTP Component."
  6. Ensure that the eLog analyzer visualization platform has been installed. For details, see Installing the Analyzer Visualization Platform.
