Changing the Time and Time Zone of the Operating System

For normal use, please adjust the system time and time zone of the server. This section describes how to change the system time and time zone.


The eLog analyzer or collector is not started. If the analyzer or collector has been started, stop the eLog before changing the time and time zone. Restart the analyzer and collector after the change is complete.


  1. Log in to the Linux operating system as user root and right-click the desktop to open the terminal.
  2. On the CLI, run the following command. The Administrator Settings window is displayed.

    # yast2

  3. Select System > Date and Time.

  4. Set your system time and time zone and deselect Hardware Clock Set To UTC.

  5. Click OK.
  6. Use the hwclock –w command to synchronize the system time into the BIOS.

    #hwclock —w

  7. Restart the Linux operating system to validate the change.
