Handling the Installation Failure

This section describes how to handle the anomalies occur during the Installation of the log collector caused by power failure, restart, and system crash of the server or the misoperations of the maintenance personnel.


  1. If the system prompts you that the omm already exists, run the userdel omm command to delete the user, and perform the installation procedure again. If the prompt is not displayed, go to step 2.

    Before performing this step, ensure that the eLog has been stopped. Otherwise, the eLog cannot be deleted after the omm account is deleted, resulting in an uninstallation failure. You can run to check whether every eLog service has been stopped. For how to use, see Verifying the Installation.

  2. Check whether the power failure occurs on the log collector. If the power indicator of the server is off, the power failure occurs on the server. Power on the server again.
  3. Use the root account to log in to the operating system.
  4. Uninstall the log collector.

    1. Right-click the desktop to open the terminal.
    2. Run the cd command to open the directory that houses the uninstallation file.
      #cd /opt/huawei/LogCenter/engineering/tools
    3. Run the ./ command to uninstall the eLog.

      Select Complete uninstallation in the dialog box that is displayed.

      • If the uninstallation succeeds, re-install the eLog.
      • If the uninstallation fails, process with the following steps.

  5. If the historical data is no longer in need, manually delete the installation directory, such as /opt/huawei/LogCenter.
  6. Re-install the eLog.
