Applying For a License

You can obtain a license authorization certificate after purchasing or renewing a license. You need also to apply for a license file to use functions controlled by the license.


  1. Obtain the Entitlement ID (LAC) .
  2. Obtain the device ESN of the analyzer.

    The ESN is a string obtained through encrypted calculation on the MAC addresses of the server network interface. The number of ESNs is the same as the number of network interfaces on the server. eLog supports five ESNs extracted to apply for a license.

    • Method 1: Before installing the eLog system, you can use the tool in the eLog software package to generate an ESN.
      1. Log in to the Linux operating system as user root.
      2. Right-click the desktop and choose Open in Terminal from the shortcut menu to access the CLI.
      3. Run the cd software-package-decompressed-path/tools command to access the path where the resides.
      4. Run the unzip -d generateEsn to decompress the tool package to the GenerateESN file.

      5. Run the cd generateEsncommand to access the path where the ESN generation tool resides.
      6. Run the ./ command to run the ESN generation tool.

        If a message is displayed, indicating that you do not have the permission, run the chmod +x command to empower the tool.

      7. Create a text file, copy the ESN, and save the file.
    • Method 2: After the eLog is installed, view the server ESN in the ESN list upon the first login. Copy the ESN to a text file and save the file.

  3. Obtain the license file through the self-service license system.

    Log in to and obtain the license file according to the system Help or information.

    The license file name extension must be .dat, and the license file name cannot contain Chinese Save the license file properly for your login to the eLog.


    If you cannot obtain the license file in a timely manner, contact the customer service.

Exception Handling

If the activated network port for license application is inconsistent with that actually used subsequently, the license file may be unavailable. In this case, follow the license change process to download a new license. Then restart the eLog and import the new license. You are advised not to randomly change the activated network port after license application.
