How to Change the Password of the omm User

When you log in to the operating system as the omm user for the first time, the system prompts you to change the password of the omm user. You shall change the password as instructed in this section.

Method 1 (Recommended):

  1. Log in to the operating system as the root user.
  2. Run the passwd omm command to change the password of the omm user. You need to enter the new password for three times.

    The system may display a message indicating that the password is too simple. This message can be ignored and does not affect the password change.

    LogServer:~ # passwd omm
    Changing password for omm.
    New Password:
    Reenter New Password:
    Password changed.
    BAD PASSWORD: is too simple
    Retype new password:
    LogServer:~ #

  3. You can use the new password of the omm user to successfully log in to the operating system. No message is displayed asking you to change the password.

Method 2:

  1. Log in to the operating system as the omm user. The system prompts you to change the password of the omm user.

    You are trying to access a restricted zone. Only Authorized Users allowed.
    omm@192.168.104.154's password:
    Password change requested. Choose a new password.
    Last login: Mon Feb 26 14:07:41 2018 from 192.168.162.32
    WARNING: Your password has expired.
    You must change your password now and login again!

  2. Change the password based on the password complexity requirements. If the password does not meet the complexity requirements, the password fails to be changed.

    NOTE:

    The password must contain over 14 characters, including uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, and special characters (!@#¥%& recommended).

    The default password of the omm user is Changeme123.

    Changing password for omm.
    Old Password:                   //Enter the old password of the omm user.
    Changing password for omm.
    (current) UNIX password:        //Enter the old password of the omm user.
    New Password:                   //Enter the new password of the omm user for three times.
    Reenter New Password:
    Password changed.
    Retype new password:

    When you use a tool such as the PuTTY to change the password, you will be automatically logged out after you enter the new password for the third time. Use the new password of the omm user to log in to the operating system again.
