You are advised to change the initial password of the Operating System. Periodically changing the user password of Linux can improve user information security.


  • You have changed the password of the root user and logged in as the root user.
  • You have changed the password of a Linux user and logged in as the Linux user.


  1. Log in to the Linux operating system and right-click the desktop to open the terminal.
  2. On the CLI, run the following command to change the password.

    # passwd
    New password: XXXX     //Enter the new password of the user.
    Enter the new password again: XXXX //Enter the new password again.
