How Can I Query the Occupation of a Port and Release It?

How Can I Query the Occupation of a Port and Release It?

This section describes the procedure for checking whether the required ports are occupied by other programs. If the ports are occupied, release the ports before you install the eLog. For details on the ports related to the eLog, see Communication Matrix.

  1. Use the root account to log in to the operating system.
  2. Right-click the desktop to open the terminal.
  3. Run the netstat -anp|grep port command to list the service that uses the specified port.

This section uses port 9002 as an example.
    #netstat -anp|grep 9002

No output is displayed if no third-party software uses the port.

If the process of any third-party software other than that of the eLog is displayed in the output, take down the process identifier (PID) of the process.

  4. Run the kill -9 PID command to terminate the process.

To avoid data loss, stop the program in a normal way beforehand. Different programs are terminated in different ways. For details about how to stop a program, refer to the document of the program.

Be cautious when you disable services or startup items. Services may be interrupted if certain important services are disabled. You are advised to consult the network administrator or the software developer before actual operation.
