Selecting a Deployment Mode

Selecting a Deployment Mode

This section describes how to select a proper deployment mode.

The eLog provides the following deployment modes:

  • Centralized deployment

The collector and the eLog analyzer are deployed on the same server.

Consider the following factors in this networking mode:

    • Networking of managed log sources

In centralized networking, it is recommended that managed log sources and the eLog be deployed on the same LAN. The number of managed log sources is less than 100. If the log sources are deployed on a WAN, mass log information occupies WAN bandwidth, which affects normal running of services.

    • The log information amount

In centralized networking, it is recommended that the log information amount cannot exceed the processing capability of a collector.

  • Distributed deployment

The collectors and the eLog analyzer are deployed on different physical servers. Multiple collectors share the same eLog analyzer. One eLog analyzer can manage a maximum of 15 collectors.

Consider the following factors when selecting this networking mode:

    • Networking of managed

More than 100 log sources are deployed on the network in different cities. Log sources are distributed in multiple areas that are connected through a WAN. A collector is deployed in each area to collect logs.

    • The log information amount

If the log information amount on the live network exceeds the processing capability of a collector, the analyzer and the collector must be deployed in distributed mode.
