Adding a Host

Adding a Host

Scenarios

As service volume increases, a FusionInsight cluster may require more role instances to provide computing capabilities to scale out the cluster. If existing nodes need to be replaced with new nodes, add hosts to the cluster.

Impact on the System

  • The parameter configuration of required processes on FusionInsight Manager varies greatly with the cluster scale. After a great number of nodes are added to or deleted from a cluster, you need to modify related configurations.
  • If a client is installed outside of a cluster, add the mapping between the IP address (service plane) of the newly added host and the host name to the /etc/hosts file on the node running the client.

Prerequisites

  • When installing an OS on a host, ensure that you have selected an OS of the same type and series as that of the active management node, and that the version of the selected OS is the same as that of the active management node or higher.

For example, you can select Red Hat 6.x, Red Hat 7.x, or SUSE 11.x. Otherwise, an error message is displayed, indicating that the OS version is incorrect or cannot be connected.

  • Before adding a host to the cluster, ensure that you have checked and modified the configuration of the installed OS to meet the FusionInsight HD installation requirements. For details, see "Configuring and Checking the Installation Environment" in Software Installation.
  • If a cluster is installed as user omm, ensure that you have added operation rights for user omm before adding hosts to the cluster.
  • If the cluster uses HDFS as the storage system, ensure that racks have been configured for the added DataNodes and the number of DataNodes on each rack is almost the same (independent from the Control Nodes or data storage nodes of other services).
  • The default SSH port No. (22) is used for each node in the cluster. Otherwise, the task in this section will fail.

Procedure

  1. Log in to FusionInsight Manager.
  2. Click Host.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Add hosts as prompted.

    NOTE:

If you installed the cluster as user omm and granted operation rights to the user, cancel the operation rights of user omm after hosts are added.
