Basic Concept

Overview

Fiber is an SQL entry based on the JDBC drivers of Hive, Spark, and Phoenix (the SQL entry of HBase). Fiber enables the connections to the JDBC services of Hive, Spark, and, HBase. With Fiber driver, you can compile an application to dynamically switch JDBC connections in program without modifying the JDBC Servers of Hive, Spark, and HBase.

Architecture

The Fiber Driver loads the JDBC Drivers of lower-layer Hive, Spark, and Phoenix (the SQL entry of HBase). When a user uses Spark as the execution engine to execute an SQL instruction, the instruction is executed by the Spark JDBC Driver. When the user switch the execution from Spark to Hive, or Phoenix, the JDBC Driver of each component executes the instruction. The following figure shows the overall architecture:
