Configuring an Alarm Threshold

Scenarios

This section describes how to configure an alarm threshold for users to monitor indicators. When a monitoring item is enabled and the related indicator reaches the alarm threshold, an alarm is reported, which can be viewed by choosing O&M > Alarm > Alarm.

Procedure

  1. Log in to FusionInsight Manager.
  2. Click O&M.
  3. In Alarm, click Configure Alarm Threshold.

  4. Click an indicator, for example, Host CPU Usage, and click Create Rule.
  5. Set monitoring indicator rule parameters.

    Specifies the rule name. It cannot be modified after it takes effect.

    Specifies the alarm severity.

    Threshold Type

    • Max value
    • Min value

    Specifies whether to use the maximum or minimum value of the indicator for setting the threshold. When this parameter is set to Maximum value, an alarm will be generated when the actual value of the indicator is greater than the threshold. When this parameter is set to Minimum value, an alarm will be generated when the actual value of the indicator is smaller than the threshold.

    Specifies the type of date when the rule takes effect.

    Configure Alarm Threshold

    • Start and End Time: From 00:00 to 24:00 (example value)
    • Threshold: 80 (example value)
    • Specifies the period in which the rule takes effect.
    • Specifies the threshold of the rule monitoring indicator. Enter a value from 0 to 100 with at most two digitsto the right of the decimal point.

  6. Click OK.

    • FusionInsight Manager checks whether the values of monitoring indicators meet the threshold requirements. If the number of times that the values do not meet the threshold requirements during consecutive checks exceeds the value of Trigger Count, an alarm will be sent. The value of Trigger Count can be customized.
    • Check Period(s) specifies the FusionInsight Managerto check monitoring indicators.

  7. In the line where the new rule is located, click Apply in the Operation column. A dialog box is displayed, indicating that the rule is successfully applied.

    NOTE:

    Only one rule in the same configuration item can take effect at one time. To make a new rule take effect, cancel the other rule first.
