Configuring a Northbound Interface (over Syslog)

Configuring a Northbound Interface (over Syslog)

Scenarios

Configure the northbound interface. In this way, alarms generated for FusionInsight Manager can be reported to your monitoring operation and maintenance system using Syslog.

The Syslog protocol does not support encryption. Therefore, data can be easily stolen during transmission. There are security risks.

Procedure

  1. Log in to FusionInsight Manager.
  2. Click System.
  3. In Interconnection, click Syslog.

The default value of Syslog Service is off. If you set Syslog Service to , the Syslog service is started.

  4. On the displayed page, set Syslog parameters listed in Table 5-2:

Table 5-2 Description of Syslog parameters

    Area

    Parameter

    Description

    Syslog Protocol

    Server IP

Specifies the IP address of the interconnected server.

    Server Port

Specifies the port number for interconnection.

    Protocol

Specifies the protocol type, which can be:

    • TCP
    • UDP

    Severity

Specifies the message severity, which can be:

    • Emergency
    • Alert
    • Critical
    • Error
    • Warning
    • Notice
    • Informational
    • Debug
      NOTE:

Severity and Facility constitute the message priority.

      Priority = Facility x 8 +Severity

For the values of Severity and Facility, see Table 5-3.

    Facility

Specifies the module where the log is generated. For available values, see Table 5-3. The default value local use 0 (local0) is recommended.

    Identifier

Specifies the product. The default value is FusionInsight Manager.

Enter a maximum of 256 characters. Only letters, digits, underscores (_), spaces, periods (.), hyphens (-), and special characters including |${} are allowed.

    Report Message

    Report Message Format

Specifies the message format of alarms. For details about the format requirements, see the help information on the WebUI.

Enter a maximum of 1024 characters. Only letters, digits, underscores (_), spaces, periods (.), hyphens (-), and special characters including |${} are allowed.

    NOTE:

For details about the message field in the report message format, see Table 5-4.

    Report Message Type

Specifies the type of alarms to be reported.

    Report Message Level

Specifies the severity of alarms to be reported.

    Uncleared Alarm Reporting

    Periodically Uncleared Alarm Reporting

Specifies whether uncleared alarms are reported periodically. ON indicates that the function is enabled. OFF indicates that the function is disabled. The default value is OFF.

    Interval Time (Minute)

Specifies the interval for periodical alarm report. When Periodically Uncleared Alarm Reporting is set to ON, the periodical alarm report function is enabled. The unit of the interval is minute and the default value is 15. The value range is 5 to 1440(one day).

    Heartbeat Settings

    Heartbeat Report

Specifies whether periodical report of Syslog heartbeat messages is enabled. ON indicates that the function is enabled. OFF indicates that the function is disabled. The default value is OFF.

    Heartbeat Period (minutes)

Specifies the interval for periodical heartbeat report. When Heartbeat Report is set to ON, the heartbeat report function is enabled. The unit of the interval is minute.and the default value is 15. The value range is 1 to 60.

    Heartbeat Packet

Specifies the heartbeat report content. When Heartbeat Report is set to ON, the function is enabled. The identifier cannot be empty. The value must contain a maximum of 256 characters. It can contain only numbers, letters, underscores(_), vertical bars(|), colons(:), commas(,), periods(.), and spaces.

    NOTE:

When the heartbeat packets are reported periodically, reporting packets may be interrupted in scenarios (active/standby OMS switchover) where some clusters are automatically restored from faults. Wait until the restoration is complete.
