Configuring the Extended Layer 3 Forwarding Resource Mode for Cards (on the CE12800E)

Configuring the Extended Layer 3 Forwarding Resource Mode for Cards (on the CE12800E)

Context

Extended Layer 3 forwarding resources are extended storage resources of cards and can be used to store ARP entries and routing entries. You can set the extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode to adjust the ARP and routing entry specifications of cards.

NOTE:

Only the CEL48XSEGA-E, CEL48GTEGA-E, CEL24XSEGA-E, CEL36LQEG-E, and CEL16CQEG-E cards of the CE12800E support this command.

The extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode ipv4-ipv6 or large-ipv4 conflicts with the ARP resource mode extend and they cannot be configured together. When the extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode of cards is ipv4-ipv6 or large-ipv4, the ARP resource mode cannot be set to extend. When the ARP resource mode is extend, the extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode of cards cannot be set to ipv4-ipv6 or large-ipv4.

Procedure

  1. (Optional) Run display forward extend mode [ slot slot-id ]

The current extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode of a specified card is displayed.

  2. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  3. Run assign forward extend { large-arp | ipv4-ipv6 | large-ipv4 } slot slot-id

The extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode is configured for a specified card.

By default, the extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode of cards is large-arp. After changing the extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode of a card, restart this card for the modification to take effect.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.

  5. Run quit

    Exit from the system view.

  6. Run reset slot slot-id

The card is restarted to make the configuration take effect.
