Enabling 1588v2 on an Interface

Context

1588v2 takes effect after you configure it in the system and interface views. That is, after enabling 1588v2 in the system view, you still need to enable it in the interface view and set 1588v2 parameters in the interface view. The parameters include the link delay measurement mechanism, asymmetric delay correction value, and timestamping mode.

Perform the following steps on each 1588v2 device.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interfaceinterface-typeinterface-number

    The interface view is displayed.

  3. (Optional) Run ptp delay-mechanism { delay | pdelay }

    A delay measurement mechanism is configured for the switch.

    By default, the delay measurement mechanism of a switch is Delay.

    NOTE:

    Two interfaces on both ends of a link must use the same delay measurement mechanism.

  4. Run ptp enable

    1588v2 is enabled on the interface.

    By default, 1588v2 is disabled on an interface.

  5. (Optional) Run ptp announce-drop enable

    The interface of the 1588v2 device is configured to ignore Announce messages.

    By default, an interface does not ignore Announce messages.

    NOTE:
    1588v2 devices exchange Announce messages to establish synchronization relationships. If an interface of a 1588v2 device is configured to ignore Announce messages, the device cannot receive clock synchronization information of other devices through this interface. The ptp announce-drop enable command is often executed on a user-side interface of a 1588v2 device.

  6. (Optional) Run ptp asymmetry-correction { negative negative-asymmetry-correction-value | positive positive-asymmetry-correction-value }

    The asymmetrical delay correction value is set for 1588v2 messages to be sent by the interface.

    By default, the asymmetrical delay correction value is not set for 1588v2 messages to be sent.

  7. (Optional) Run ptp clock-step { one-step | two-step }

    The timestamping mode is specified for 1588v2 messages.

    By default, the timestamping mode for 1588v2 messages is one-step.

  8. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
