Configuring IGMP

Configuring IGMP

To forward multicast data based on local Layer 2 multicast entries after VXLAN decapsulation, a VXLAN gateway must be capable of forwarding both Layer 2 and Layer 3 multicast traffic at the same time. To achieve this capability, the VXLAN gateway must have IGMP and related parameters configured on its VBDIF interface.

After IGMP is configured on a VBDIF interface, IGMP snooping is automatically enabled in the corresponding BD and inherits the parameter settings on the VBDIF interface. However, related configurations are not displayed in the BD view. To check them, you can only run the display igmp snooping bridge-domain bd-id command. If you manually modify IGMP snooping configurations in the BD view, the modification does not take effect. What takes effect is still the configurations inherited from the VBDIF interface.

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface vbdif bd-id

The VBDIF interface view is displayed.

  3. Run pim sm

    PIM-SM is enabled.

  4. Run igmp enable

    IGMP is enabled.

By default, IGMP is disabled on interfaces.

  5. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.

Follow-up Procedure

Configure IGMP-related functions as needed. Perform interface configurations in the VBDIF interface view. For details, see "IGMP Configuration". The following configuration tasks are not supported:

  • Configure an IGMP user to statically join a multicast group.

  • Configure IGMP host tracking.

  • Configure IGMP on-demand.
