(Optional) Configuring an SSM Group Policy

(Optional) Configuring an SSM Group Policy

If the address of the multicast group that a user joins is not within an SSM group address range, you need to configure an SSM group policy in the VLAN to add the multicast group address to the SSM group address range. Then the user can obtain SSM services. An SSM group policy needs to reference an ACL6. For details about ACL6 configuration, see "ACL Configuration" in the CloudEngine 12800 and 12800E Series Switches Configuration Guide - Security.

When an ACL6 to be referenced by an SSM group policy is configured, deny in the ACL6 is valid for all multicast groups by default. To exclude a multicast group address from an SSM group address range, you also need to run the rule permit source any command.

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run vlan vlan-id

    The VLAN view is displayed.

  3. Run mld snooping ssm-policy { basic-acl6-number | acl6-name acl6-name }

    An SSM group policy is configured.

    By default, the SSM group address range is FF3x::/32. The value of x cannot be 1 or 2.

    After you configure an SSM group policy, all the multicast groups permitted by this policy are SSM groups.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
