Configuring Basic Multicast VPN Functions

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before configuring basic multicast VPN functions, complete the following tasks:

  • Configure a unicast routing protocol.
  • Configure basic multicast functions on the public and private networks.
  • Configure BGP/MPLS IP VPN.

Configuration Procedure

Multicast VPN requires additional configuration on provider edge (PE) devices, and the multicast service configuration on the customer edge (CE) and provider (P) device remains the same before and after multicast VPN is configured.

The following configuration tasks must be performed in the listed order. The task of (Optional) Configuring a Switch-MDT is optional, and the other tasks are mandatory.
