Configuring the MLD Version

Configuring the MLD Version

MLD maintains group memberships between Layer 3 multicast devices and user hosts. Two versions are available: v1 and v2. After an MLD version is specified on a Layer 2 switch, the switch can process MLD messages of the specified version. Generally, a Layer 2 device and its upstream Layer 3 multicast device must run the same MLD version. If MLD is disabled on the Layer 3 multicast device, the MLD version on the Layer 2 device must be the same as or higher than that on user hosts.

User hosts in the same VLAN must run the same MLD version. If user hosts in a VLAN support different MLD versions, set the MLD version to MLDv2 on the Layer 2 device so that the device can process MLD messages from all user hosts.

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run vlan vlan-id

    The VLAN view is displayed.

  3. Run mld snooping version version

    The MLD version is specified.

By default, the switch can process MLDv1 and MLDv2 messages.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
