Impact on the System

  • If the clock source becomes an empty source, the clock signal accuracy will degrade.

Possible Causes

1: Attributes of a clock device on the network were changed, which caused the switchover of the master clock.

2: An associated link failed or an associated interface became Down, which caused the switchover of the master clock.

3: The clock source was manually switched during manual or forcible clock source selection.

Procedure

  1. Run the display clock config command to check the operating mode of the clock source.

    • If the operating mode is free, the clock source is in free state. Go to step 6.

    • If the operating mode is hold, the clock source is in hold state. Go to step 6.

    • If the operating mode is normal, go to step 2.

  2. Run the display clock config command to check the clock source selection mode.

    • If the clock source selection mode is manual or force, the clock source is switched forcibly. Go to step 6.

    • If the clock source selection mode is automatic, go to step 3.

  3. Run the display clock source command to check whether the clock source is in normal state.

    • If so, go to step 4.

    • If not, go to step 5.

  4. Check whether attributes of the clock source are changed.

    • If so, go to step 6.

    • If not, go to step 5.

  5. Collect alarm information, log information, and configuration of the device, and contact technical support.
  6. End.
